background

Ever since watching his dad play drums along to Led Zeppelin’s “Moby Dick” at age 12, Cary knew he wanted to be a drummer. By high school, he was learning drum parts by ear, picking apart songs instrument by instrument, and memorizing entire albums.

Coming from a background in punk and metal, Cary developed a strong sense of rhythm, dynamics, and complex time signatures. That foundation eventually carried into his work as a professional session and touring drummer, allowing him to adapt naturally to a wide range of styles.

Cary’s approach has always been song-first. He believes the best drum parts come from knowing exactly when to push a song forward, when to support the vocals and other instruments, and when to simply stay out of the way. For him, great drumming is never about showing off—it’s about giving the song exactly what it needs.

Cary is currently based in Los Angeles and is available for session work, live performances, and touring.
